Install guide

Install Tomato in five steps.

Tomato is free, so it is not notarized by Apple. macOS will ask you once to confirm that you trust it. These steps match the guide in the download window.

  1. Drag Tomato to Applications

    Open the file you downloaded. Drag the Tomato icon onto the Applications folder in the same window.

  2. Open Tomato

    Open your Applications folder and double click Tomato.

  3. macOS shows a warning

    macOS says it cannot check Tomato. This is expected. Click Done. Do not move it to the Bin.

  4. Click Open Anyway

    Open System Settings, then Privacy & Security. Scroll down and click Open Anyway next to the Tomato message.

  5. Confirm

    macOS asks one more time. Click Open and enter your Mac password if asked. You only do this once.

Security notice

What this beta promises about security.

Tomato is a beta. Security fixes are best effort and may arrive later than they would in Chrome or Safari.

Chromium security fixes reach Tomato only after the embedding framework it is built on ships them, so they can lag behind Chrome. This is the same notice Tomato shows in Settings, under About.
